Maha-Mrutyunjay means Trimbakeshwar; Trambak is the form of Lord Shiva.

Maha-mrutyunjay Mantras are recited to escape from the horrible motion of Kal (Lord of Time) and to avoid life threatening diseases, fear of death, problems in family, unhealthy life and loss in wealth. This Havan is very valuable for a flourishing future.

Trambak with the three eyes meaning Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, is a symbol of eye and the straight meaning of Trambak is the conversant about the three places in Trimbakeshwar. To achieve stability worshiping and meditating Shri Trimbakeshwar God is recommended, but for this one needs prosperous body and if you possess tranquil and pure mind then it will reflect a stronger body. Otherwise harmful ingredients gets accumulated in body resulting in adverse effects on the body, if we remove this harmful ingredient from our body then positively body will produce nontoxic ingredient. But for this it is important to have complete control on organs. To get rid of all diseases and to keep it neutral Lord Shiva burnt the cupid. Due to which even after consuming poison there was no effect on him. If we view Trimbakeshwar Maha-Mrutyunjay Jyotirlinga from spiritual point then among the six wheels the poison was kept in the fifth wheel to make it harmless. Just as life tree separate itself, through meditation it made it eternal. Maha-Mrutyunjay Mantra has the power to make it eternal.

Benefits of Maha-Mrutyunjay Havan:

One who recites Maha-Mrutyunjay mantra daily is said to become immortal and all his diseases will be eliminated. Long lived Markanda Rishi mentioned the mythological tale, the nobility of the Maha-Mrutyunjay Mantra. Also mentioned the story of Sanat Rishi who blessed the child long life. But after which he learnt that the life of child is only ten years. Kal (God of Time) has his own speed. One is empowered by all the powers after reciting Maha-Mrutyunjay Jap and oblation by fire to the deity. Maha-Mrutyunjay Jap must be recited for at least one lakh twenty five thousand times. One can institute mercy and affection of God Trimbakeshwar after Dashashan Havan, Marjan, Tarpan and after offering a meal. And thus one can be saved from the untimely death.

To escape from the dreadful motion of Kal (God of Time) Maha-Mrutyunjay Mantra must be recited in the following mentioned circumstances. Like life threatening disease, fear of untimely death, fear of lawful death, health, strife in family, unhealthy and loss in wealth and such similar hard situations one must worship God Maha-Mrutyunjay. It must be performed as per proper tradition and conventions and as per mentioned appropriate times. But the fact remains if the rite is performed with all faith from the Brahmins then one achieve its appropriate fruit and in the end one is freed from all the bonds of life and is immersed in Shivlog.
